In 1995, seven graduates of Architecture Department Bandung Institute of Technology decided to build their own architecture studio. HEPTA, the Latin word for seven, was chosen as their studio name. As a young architectural studio, the seven relied on entering competition to build up their architectural competence; within few months, HEPTA has won three national design competitions of various scales_ ranging from a housing design competition to an extensive urban revitalization.
Now, HEPTA brings over ten years of experience on a broad range of projects. HEPTA has undertaken work in architecture, interior design, and master plan. The firm has executed a diverse range of building type including residential, memorial, hospitality, office, and government building.
HEPTA has been an architecture boot camp for young architects, where they are worked hard and where some discover their own grit and design talent. Many of them now work in reputable international architecture firm in Singapore, Hongkong, United States, and Middle East.
Hepta and Client
Hepta’s architecture always responds to each client’s unique program and site. We believe in both ideas and profitability. We see at an entire project and consider the site, the cultural and economic environment, a client’s physical needs and budget constraint, as well as construction techniques, marketing and occupancy issues.
We usually begin with considerations of the client’s ideas, specific needs and the particularities of the site to establish a strong conceptual framework. The strength of these frameworks lets the design to build naturally upon itself, as the more detailed aspects of the project are developed. A collaborative process with clients, other architect, engineers, specialty consultants, and within the office creates a process that invites ideas to flourish. Throughout this process, the take-and-give of ideas between everyone involved is welcomed and encouraged, through a series of focused design meetings. By working closely with clients, their programs, and the potential of each site, HEPTA is able to make architecture that truly responds to the factors that shape each situation, from the big idea to the smallest detail.
We approach to design carefully balances rigorous process with strong design intuition. Comprehensive and inclusive design reviews generate fresh ideas and firm-wide ownership of the work.
